Polymers useful for gene therapy

Jul 22, 2016 | Oncology

Researchers from the University of the Basque Country have discovered that a natural polymer derived from crustaceans, called oligochitosan, is capable of transporting DNA to the nucleus of cells and affecting tumor cells.

Using particles of these polymers from crustaceans, DNA molecules, both large and small, can be transported so that biological components can be synthesized that affect tumor cells and can also treat diseases of the central nervous system.
